Situated 10km east of Pietermaritzburg, under the watchful eye of the areas very own Table Mountain (Mkhambathini). Bishop Colenso resided here from 1855 to 1883. In 1910 32 acres were bought by German Farmers to erect a Church and School. The Flora of the area ranges from deciduous Woodlands to valley Bushlands in the Msunduzi Valley. The dominant trees are acacias (Thorn Trees) Zulu name Umkhambo. Bird life is prolific with raptors well represented. The area is home to the Kenosis Community and Walk in the Light Ministries.
